Mariyam Begam has all the documents, but twice her documents were rejected and left out of the NRC list. Her parents' names are there in the NRC and her husband’s too. She had submitted the legacy proof having linkages to her parents and husband, but none worked. Women are the biggest sufferers in NRC; the slightest deviation of their names and surnames mostly results in rejection by the NRC authorities. That the NRC authorities deliberately omit women from the NRC is the Assamese sub-nationalistic culture.
Gouri Das was notified by the Foreigners Tribunal in Goalpara in Assam to prove her Indian nationality. On 23 April 2019 she cast her vote in the ongoing parliamentary election in Assam. Her name is in the voter list for many years and she has legacy documents too.
