The post-colonial visual oeuvre in Bengal province weaves a defiant tapestry of memory, migration, and marginality, challenging the lingering shadows of partition and statelessness. As a visual storyteller based in Kolkata, my work confronts the fractured identities of communities of Bengali refugees who fled religious persecution from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and settled precariously across West Bengal and Assam. Through photographs, I reclaim their narratives from colonial aftershocks and post-independence betrayals, transforming personal testimonies into collective indictments of exclusion.
