Chapter V:Sons of the Soil

In Assam, any Bengali-speaking person is considered an illegal immigrant from the neighbouring country.


The Bengali Muslim people who are living in the state over millennial, because on linguistic and religion they are marked as illegal immigrants from the neighbouring country, Bangladesh, which is a Muslim country. The process of identification has smacked of chauvinism for several decades since independence, when thousands were killed, tortured, and fled, preached by Assamese leaders impugning the historicity of the land that manifests itself in the figures NRC has published.
